We are now living in troubled times
It’s troublous times without any warfare
King is still seated imposingly on the throne
Together with ministers, mandarins in his office building
The people are day after day living their lives of hardships and misery silently
Their sweat and tears are so shameful
Worry to meals from morning to evening
They work all day long to bring up bang of mandarins
There are famous men bending their pen-nib
Day after day their lines seem like fish-hooks
Each drop of ink becomes a drop of blood
And everywhere tears are so colourless
Some scholars hide themselves as recluses
In dim and distand forests
History becomes shifty black and white
A clear-sighted king unexpectedly becomes a banisher
We are living in time of despised doctrine
When Buddha’s statue is seated in bars
The butcher changes into Bodhisattva
Ghosts mingle with Buddha on the lotus-shaped seat
Our time is witnessing many people graduated into man-darinhood
What they uttered is worth nothing
Oh! Heroes and doctors are full in streets
They eternally extol glories
Not being a nation if looking down painfully
Lieu Thang was beheaded in former Chi-Lang-pass
King seems not a king and general seems not a general
Up to now gold statue is still paid tribute
I break my pen to throw into the sea
And recognize foaming water like former blood
And remember saddles of fighting times
Which continue to flow forever…
